Tony holds an associate’s degree in business management and Equine Science from Lamar Community College, as well as a certification as a Licensed EMT from Trinidad State College. His academic background, paired with his hands-on experience, has enabled him to manage and take care of the Walking Y Ranch, where he serves as a cow and calf producer dedicated to the agricultural industry.
In addition to his role at the ranch, Tony actively participates in shaping agricultural policy and advocacy in Colorado. He serves on the Executive Board of Action 22, the Executive Board of Colorado Counties Inc., and the Executive Board of Colorado CTSI Technical Service Institute. His dedication to stewardship earned him the title of Land Steward of the Year for the State of Colorado in 2022, and he was also recognized as a Who's Who in Agriculture in Colorado 2023 Trailblazer Award recipient.
Tony is affiliated with the Colorado Farm Bureau and the Veterans Council of Las Animas County, further demonstrating his commitment to supporting local agriculture and veterans in his community.
Beyond his professional and community accomplishments, Tony enjoys martial arts, including Dan 2nd Hapkido, Tang Soo Do, Okinawan Shōrin-ryū, and Kobudō, which contribute to his disciplined approach to both ranching and life.
